Our Story

A Century of Farming Excellence

Founded in the early 1920s by the Thomas family, Tucker Hill Farms has stood as a pillar of agricultural tradition in Rock River, Jamaica. Through generations, we've preserved traditional farming methods while adapting to modern sustainable practices.

Historical Farm Image

The Early Years (1920s-1950s)

Our journey began when the Thomas family first settled in Rock River, establishing what would become Tucker Hill Farms. Starting with basic subsistence farming, they gradually expanded their operations to include livestock, crops, and sustainable forestry practices.

The early years were marked by hard work, community cooperation, and a deep respect for the land that would sustain future generations.

Preston Farm Land

Expansion & Innovation (1950s-1980s)

The second generation of Thomas farmers expanded operations significantly, acquiring additional land parcels and introducing modern farming techniques while maintaining traditional values.

This period saw the establishment of our three main farm locations: Bad Rock Farm, Upper Yard Farm, and Preston Farm, each with its own unique characteristics and specialties.

Tucker Hill Farm

Sustainable Development (1980s-Present)

The current generation has focused on sustainable farming practices, environmental stewardship, and community development. We've implemented organic farming methods, rainwater harvesting systems, and renewable energy solutions.

Today, Tucker Hill Farms continues to be a model of sustainable agriculture while preserving the traditional farming wisdom passed down through generations.

Our Methods

Sustainable Farming Practices

We combine traditional organic methods with modern sustainable practices to ensure the health of our land, animals, and community for generations to come.

🌱
Organic Farming

We use only natural fertilizers, avoid synthetic pesticides, and maintain soil health through crop rotation and composting practices.

💧
Water Conservation

Our rainwater harvesting systems and efficient irrigation methods ensure sustainable water use throughout our operations.

🌿
Biodiversity

We maintain diverse ecosystems on our farms, supporting native wildlife and beneficial insects that contribute to natural pest control.

♻️
Waste Management

All organic waste is composted and returned to the soil, creating a closed-loop system that enriches our farmland.

🌞
Renewable Energy

Solar panels and other renewable energy sources power our operations, reducing our carbon footprint and energy costs.

Community Partnership

We work closely with local communities, sharing knowledge and resources to promote sustainable agriculture throughout the region.
